Planning to Take a Break?

If you know you'll be away from Second Life for an extended period, we encourage you to plan ahead before your rental expires.

Real life always comes first, and we understand that vacations, work commitments, education, family responsibilities, or unexpected personal circumstances may temporarily keep you away.

To help protect your residency during your absence, Morven Estate offers two optional services designed for different needs. Whether you'd like to keep your current parcel or simply preserve your remaining prepaid rental time, you can choose the option that best fits your situation.

Choose the Option That Fits You Best

Option 1 — Parcel Freeze

Keep Your Parcel

Parcel Freeze is an optional paid service designed for residents who want to keep their current parcel while they're away from Second Life.

Before your rental expires, simply visit the Parcel Freeze Terminal located at the Morven Estate Office.

The terminal automatically:

  • Detects your active rental.

  • Calculates the activation fee based on your parcel's current weekly rental amount.

  • Creates your Freeze Balance.

  • Activates Parcel Freeze immediately after payment.

Once your rental expires, Parcel Freeze begins automatically.

Your parcel remains reserved exclusively for you for up to 30 days, while your available Freeze Balance is automatically deducted by the Morven Estate system.

Before your Freeze Balance expires, you'll receive a reminder notification, allowing you to renew your protection if needed.

Parcel Freeze is the ideal solution for residents who have customized their parcel and wish to return to the exact same location.

Option 2 — Rental Time Hold

Keep Your Remaining Time

Rental Time Hold is designed for residents who don't need to keep their current parcel but don't want to lose the rental time they've already paid for.

Unlike Parcel Freeze, Rental Time Hold does not reserve your parcel.

Before leaving Second Life, simply contact Morven Estate Support.

Your current parcel will be returned to the estate and made available for new residents.

Instead of refunding your unused rental time, Morven Estate securely preserves your remaining prepaid rental time on your account.

When you return, Morven Estate will assign you an available parcel with the same parcel size (SQM) and Land Impact (Prims) as your previous rental, subject to availability.

Your preserved rental time will continue from where it was paused.

Please note that the exact parcel or location cannot be guaranteed.

Rental Time Hold is the ideal solution for residents planning a longer absence who don't need to reserve a specific parcel.

How to Activate Parcel Freeze

Parcel Freeze can be activated directly through the Parcel Freeze Terminal located at the Morven Estate Office.

The terminal automatically:

  • Detects your active rental.

  • Calculates the activation fee based on your parcel's current weekly rental amount.

  • Creates your Freeze Balance.

  • Activates Parcel Freeze immediately after payment.

There is no need to calculate anything manually—the system always displays the correct activation fee for your parcel.

Automatic Parcel Freeze Management

Once Parcel Freeze has been activated, the Morven Estate system automatically:

  • Starts Parcel Freeze when your rental expires.

  • Keeps your parcel reserved exclusively for you.

  • Tracks your remaining Freeze Balance.

  • Deducts Freeze Balance automatically over time.

  • Sends a reminder before your Freeze Balance expires.

  • Allows you to renew your Freeze Balance through the Parcel Freeze Terminal.

This fully automated process ensures your parcel remains protected without requiring any additional action after your rental expires.

Grace Period

Residents without an active Parcel Freeze may still receive a short grace period after their rental expires.

  • Up to 24 hours as standard.

  • Up to 3 days in exceptional circumstances, depending on communication history, estate policies, and parcel availability.

Grace periods are offered as a courtesy and cannot be guaranteed.

Why We Offer These Services

We understand that life doesn't always go as planned.

Some residents have spent weeks or months creating their perfect parcel and want to return to exactly the same place.

Others don't mind giving up their parcel but would still like to preserve the rental time they've already paid for.

Rather than forcing you to choose between losing your parcel or losing your prepaid rental time, Morven Estate offers two flexible services that protect what matters most to you.

Whether you choose Parcel Freeze or Rental Time Hold, our goal is to make leaving easier—and returning even easier.
